Job Description & Qualifications
Manages multiple processes related to the identification, analysis, and control of risk areas. Implements and provides risk management policies, tactical plans, and support to business leadership.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Partners with internal stakeholders to drive and manage strategic risk management goals for the organization, including implementing risk management, claims management, and safety programs.
Leads enterprise risk management processes to identify, quantify, and develop mediation plans for risks throughout the organization.
Handles workers’ compensation claims, identifies and implements strategic claims management initiatives, and manages the company’s third-party administrator.
Reviews insurance-related contract provisions. Recommends changes and sends to Legal for additional review.
Manages insurance documentation requirements. Resolves escalated issues and inquiries relating to risk management insurance coverage.
Oversees the surety program, including participating in calls with underwriters and internal stakeholders.
Supervises the development of risk management learning tools for functional business teams.
Prepares and analyzes risk management reporting and dashboards.
Nature and Scope
Solutions require analysis and investigation.
Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details
Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related area.
7+ years of experience in risk management, including supervisory experience.
Knowledge of property and casualty policy terms.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
